Annual Provider Verification: What Reentry Organizations Should Review
Provider information changes. Annual verification gives listed organizations a structured opportunity to confirm ownership, review public information, submit updates, and renew the organization’s annual OACRA listing verification.
A provider may be accurately listed when first added to a directory, but public information can change quickly. Phone numbers, intake contacts, websites, service areas, program formats, referral procedures, and availability notes may no longer reflect the organization’s current operations.
OACRA annual provider verification creates a defined review point for organizations already represented in the directories. It combines renewal with the opportunity to confirm or update the information that individuals and referral professionals use when researching services.
What annual provider verification means
Annual verification is an organizational participation and information-maintenance process. It is not a clinical accreditation, government approval, court designation, guarantee of program quality, or promise that a provider will accept a particular applicant.
Confirm listing ownership
The organization confirms that an authorized representative is reviewing or renewing the listing associated with the provider.
Review public information
The provider checks the organization name, service category, geographic placement, contact route, intake information, and public description.
Submit updates
The organization can identify changes that should be reviewed for the public listing, including new contacts, locations, service areas, or application links.
Renew annual participation
Payment renews the provider’s active annual verification and participation period. It does not purchase guaranteed referrals, acceptance decisions, or public-agency endorsement.
Information to review before renewing
Providers should compare the current OACRA listing with the organization’s present operations before completing annual verification.
- Legal or public-facing organization name
- Primary service category and any secondary service category
- Physical location and geographic service area
- Public phone, admissions number, and referral contact
- Website, application, and intake links
- Population served and program format
- Referral, assessment, orientation, or application steps
- Documents, fees, insurance, or payment information that should be confirmed
- Availability, waitlist, or intake-status language
- Any outdated wording that no longer reflects the program
Confirm contact and intake pathways
Contact information is one of the most important parts of a provider listing. A user may identify a potentially relevant program but still be unable to move forward if the listed number, inbox, website, or referral route is outdated.
Providers should identify the best public contact route and, when applicable, distinguish it from the route used by agencies or professional referral partners. Intake instructions should describe the next step without promising acceptance or placement.
Review service area and directory placement
An organization’s mailing address does not always describe the full area it serves. Providers should confirm whether services are local, county-based, regional, statewide, virtual, hybrid, or residential with broader referral access.
Accurate service-area information helps OACRA place the provider in the appropriate directory region and helps users avoid contacting programs that do not serve their location.
Update the public service description
The listing description should explain the provider’s actual service in clear language. It may identify the program format, service focus, population, geographic reach, and intake route.
Descriptions should not claim universal eligibility, guaranteed acceptance, court approval, government endorsement, guaranteed outcomes, or availability that has not been confirmed.
How the annual renewal process works
-
Locate the current listing
Review the public OACRA card or directory entry associated with the organization.
-
Identify needed changes
Note outdated contacts, service areas, intake details, descriptions, or links that should be reviewed.
-
Complete annual payment
Use the Renew/Claim Listing checkout to renew the organization’s annual verification and active participation.
-
Submit listing updates
Use the provider request form when information needs to be corrected, expanded, or reviewed.
Public listing versus annual verification
Public resource listing
OACRA may retain useful provider information as a public resource even when an organization has not completed annual verification. This preserves directory utility for individuals and referral professionals.
Annually verified participation
Annual verification indicates that the organization completed OACRA’s current ownership, information-review, and renewal process for the participation period. It does not certify clinical quality, legal eligibility, agency approval, or acceptance for a particular person.
Why organizations should renew
Renewal gives a provider a formal opportunity to remain involved in the maintenance of its public information instead of relying only on an unclaimed resource entry.
- Confirm the organization’s connection to the listing
- Review and correct public-facing information
- Maintain current contact and intake pathways
- Receive provider-related listing and renewal notices
- Support clearer information for potential participants and referral professionals
- Maintain an actively reviewed annual provider listing

Renew or claim your provider listing
Complete the annual verification payment, then submit any listing changes that OACRA should review. Providers with no changes may still renew their annual participation through the same checkout.
